Maughold: Cashtal yn Ard

Join me for a walking tour through the beautiful Manx countryside to see the landscapes that inspired Archibald Knox’s work. These immersive walks offer a sensory experience allowing you to feel and apreciate the essence of Knox’s artistry. Along the way, you’ll gain unique insights into his life and legacy, with plenty of time to pause, take in breathtaking views, and connect deeply with the surroundings much as he did.

Start Point: Car park between the Cornaa electric tram stop and the entrance to Ballaglass Glen. By car, from the A2 coast road, turn onto the Hibernian/Ballafayle Road and then turn onto the road to Ballaglass Glen.

This excursion takes us through the dramatic Ballaglass Glen, and from Glen Mona up to Cashtal yn Ard . There are views of North Barrule and to the east down to Port Cornaa and the Irish sea.

Toilets: The nearest public toilets are at Dhoon Glen or Maughold village car park.

Walking terrain: Uneven footpaths through Ballaglass Glen. It can be slippery underfoot and there are tree roots to contend with. Quiet lanes and country roads,
