"Failt Erriu"

(Welcome)

While I am no longer operating Manx Walks as a business, I haven't hung up my walking boots and I have volunteered to lead walks for the Archibald Knox Forum's big event "Isle of Knox, Order & Beauty".
This year-long celebration, which runs from April 5, 2025 to March 1st 2026, features the Manx Museum hosting the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of Knox's work ever assembled. The exhibition will extend beyond gallery walls with talks, walks, workshops, screenings and the self-guided Knox Trail. Visitors will discover how the Island's rich heritage, spirituality and natural beauty shaped his timeless work.

Walk in Footsteps of Archibald Knox
Join me for a walking tour through the beautiful Manx countryside to see the landscapes that inspired Archibald Knox’s work. These immersive walks offer a sensory experience allowing you to feel and apreciate the essence of Knox’s artistry. Along the way, you’ll gain unique insights into his life and legacy, with plenty of time to pause, take in breathtaking views, and connect deeply with the surroundings much as he did.
What better way to deepen your understanding of Knox than to follow in his footsteps and get out into the Manx countryside?
It is not just the landscape that is apparent in Knox’s work but a suffusion of the island’s rich history of myths, spiritual and religious beliefs, legends, lore and tales.
In author, Steven Martin’s words his art suggests “his own special sense of place and soul, his feeling of ‘home”’ ….  a Celtic Christian sensibility that has its roots deep in his Manx heritage”.
Knox's work reflects the deep love Manx people feel for their homeland and my hope is that you too will feel the magic of the Island’s spirit and a deeper understanding of what inspired Knox as you walk in the places that inspired him.
